Day of Judgement - 4 witnesses
Day of Judgement - 4 witnesses
Mustafa Rahman
On the Day of Judgement, there will be 4 witnesses, and these witnesses will be completely truthful, completely accurate, and they will not omit any information.
The first witness is revealed in Surah Az Zalzalah. In the first 4 verses, it says: “When the earth is shaken with its (final) earthquake. And when the earth throws out its burdens. And man will say: "What is the matter with it?". That Day it will declare its information (about all that happened over it of good or evil).” The first witness is the Earth. When the Prophet (SAW) was asked what information the Earth will declare on the Day of Judgement, he responded that the Earth will be told to testify against every man and woman, and it’ll say “Ya Allah, he/she did so-and-so.” It is our responsibility to be mindful of what we are doing on the Earth because every action we do will be recorded and presented to Allah.
The second witness is a common witness. It is with us right now, and it does not leave us for a second. The second witness are the angels. The angels are writing everything we say and everything we do. And, on the Day of Judgement, the information written down by the angels will be presented to you in a book. Some people will receive their book in their right hand, and they’ll be full of pride showing it to everybody. Other people will receive their book in their left hand, and they’ll question it. They’ll say: “How come this book doesn’t leave anything small or large except it is recorded?” It is because the angels are writing everything down, and they’ll not omit anything. What we’ll read on the Day of Judgement is what we are doing right now. That is why it’s important we use our time wisely with honourable deeds.
Please sit down for a moment
The Earth and the angels are 2 witnesses on the Day of Judgement. The third witness is the scariest witness. On the Day of Judgement, a man will come to Allah and say: “Ya Allah, is this a day where you promised there will be no injustice?” Allah will reply, “Yes, there is no injustice”. Then, the man will say: “I don’t believe in the earth. I don’t believe in the angels. I don’t believe in these witnesses. I only want my own witnesses.” Then, Allah will seal his mouth, and his hand will talk, his tongue will talk without his or her control, his eyes will talk, his leg will talk, his ears will talk, even his skin and hair will talk. They will testify to Allah about every action the person did that involved them. Once the man sees this, he will be outraged. He’ll say: “What are you doing? I’m lying in front of Allah, that All-Knowing, so that I’ll be able to protect you from hell! Yet, you’re testifying against me?” The body parts will respond, “Allah made us talk, and he can make anything talk.”
The final witness is Allah himself. And, it is sufficient for Allah to be a witness because he is the All-Knowing and the Most-Wise. He knows everything, how it is, and what was intended. Whether the scenario is trivial and forgetful, or crucial and extreme, Allah will bring it in the exact way it was. Yet, with his extreme mercy, he’ll bring the earth, he’ll bring the angels, and he’ll make the body parts speak to show that there is no injustice. Whatever we do in this life will reflect on how the witnesses will testify with us. Whatever we do in this life will be presented to us on the Day Judgement. Whatever we do in this life is recorded. It is very important for us to repent to Allah for the sins we committed and take advantage of the time we have right now because we are writing down what we’ll read on the Day of Judgement.
